2nd in ST class 7-11-10 !

« on: July 29, 2010, 09:27:50 PM »

Before I hear shit , YES I have looked on the internet a lot and all I can find it class results all over the us and on occasion a .PDF file I have to download. I don't want to download shit , I just want to read and clog my computer with more shit.
It's Apollo. Some may know of the car. Suspension shit. DEEBS build on the engine so I know I am out of ST class for that. Has a cat. Was told it runs in FP or FSP? Not sure the difference? Can I use a Geo TB , remove the cat and gut some of the damaged (due to water and mold) interior and still be in FP?
This poor car has been run to shit. After this year of racing it will rest in peace.
Thank you in advance to anybody that can help me (and not be a dick about it).

Depending on interior removal, EP.

Realisitcally, ST or FSP.  The car isn't going to be competitive in either class, so as long as you are honest with your competitors about what you have done, I'm sure you could run ST w/o protest.

Well in ST I took 2nd place a few weeks back. My car has a modded TB and no converter. But the guy that beats me every time knows it and the the lady that beats us both doesn't. But that's with the headache.
The car I want to run so far has been gutted down to just front seats. No rear seats were in it. Rear seat belts were molded. Has ants in it. Carpet was a sponge. I drilled holes in the floor and punched holes in the rusted floor boards.
This thing is on it's last leg. Shell is shit , subframe needs to get plated before I take ti the next race. Engine is dam snappy! Thats the only reason I bought it.
But seriously , can any saturn ever be seriously be competitive in any class?

Yes, but you have to build for that class.  HS they are still potentially competitive.  FSP probably.

HS isn't fun though. Too slow.

Do you enjoy competition, or do you enjoy racing against yourself?  If its the latter, build your car how you like (or run it how you like) in whatever class it lands in.  If you aren't in it for the competition, who cares about the class?

If you do like the competition, see what changes you can make to get into a class where you stand a chance.

It was nice to be competitive. But fun is also a big factor. For the most part I want to make sure I register my car in the right class.
Once I get the trans fixed and a cat put back on the headache I will be running that is ST class again.
Cumberland motor club relies on each driver to class their own car. I just want to make sure whats left of Apollo gets put in the right class.
This thing has been gutted right down to absolutlely nothing. I have 2 seats , 4 window crank handles , 4 door handles , steering wheel and the cluster left.
It;s amazing how much of a rattle trap a saturn is with no interior!  Grin

Gutted interior lumps you into Prepared classes, which unfortunately due to the current state of the car, sounds like you have zero chance of winning.

Unless you win by default, like would happen here.  Not too many Prepared cars in the local region.

I know it will be in a prepared class. I am pretty sure i will get bumped in with the civic and the sonnet. DP sonnet and GP civic hatchback. This terd is all about fun. If I want to be competitive then I will put a converter back on my SL2 and run that again.
Kinda want to make sure FP is what I want to register the car as. Race is this sunday so I will reg it as such.
