so here's my problem..
when i drive around and hit the brakes (slowly) i feel a constant knocking and it shakes the entire car a bit.
i got a 1996 sl1, any ideas what it could be? maybe rotors? but they dont squeak or anything at all.. lol

You feel it in the pedal or the steering wheel, or both? Does it seem to be coming from a specific wheel? If so take a close look with the wheel off.

warped rotors
or
pad deposits on rotor
or
stuck caliper pins
or
oblong drums
or
lose ball joints, control arm mounts, sway bar to LCA connection

and thats about all I can think of

I am betting its in the front

i dont do hardcore braking but i tried and it just kicks back more than when i press them down slowly.
so should i just get newer rotors and brake pads and stuff and see if its gone?

I would just put it on the ol' jack-stands and take the front rotors somewhere for a re-surface, a good shop will notice if they are actually warped/cracked/etc or if they are just too thin already. If they can't be turned get some new ones. Replace the pads too. Inspect the CVs and front suspension while there and replace anything that needs it.

Ill sell you some hawk hps+ performance ceramics for an awsome ass price.  Retail is 74 + shipping.  Ill send em to you say 50 shipped?

I, Along with dozens of others on here, run these pads out front and they are awesome and a great investment for any driving style.  We also just put a set on our landscaping truck.

Your post makes it sound like your do for new pads and rotors and a good lubrication of the brake system

I think a Saturn forum is one of the few places someone would tell someone to buy a Topaz over a Porsche..

Look up hawk hps+ saturn.  Look up hawk in general.  They make performance brake pads for most applications.

You'll need to lubricate the slide pins with silicon brake lube.  Its easy.  Very easy.  There is a video some where that shows it all.  You could do your own front brakes in a hour easily.
