Update 06/02/08:

Pics as promised!! As of now the engine is not in the car yet (my cousin couldn't get the hoist this weekend). It is probably 80% complete. I just ordered an intercooler (29x11x3) and piping and a universal BOV. There are about three big expenses left for this project (exhaust, slicks, and windshield).

The valve cover gasket is awesome! I think that we've found the best way to get oil to the turbo. We drilled and tapped the stock engine plugs and it works perfectly. No adapters (see pics) :)! We also made a custom front seal installer out of my old crank gear (see pics again).

Updated Cam Specs

While these will not be 100% accurate, they are close. Watch the video at the end of this post to see what we did to the cam gears. Using a dial indicator, we determined that the play in the stock cam gears was: .016 on the intake cam and .018-.019 on the exhaust cam. After come calculating, we determined that we should make the play on the intake cam .080 and the play on the exhaust cam .100. This actually retards both cams.

Intake Centerline: 109
Exhaust Centerline: 108.5-109.5

Intake Opens: 6.5 ATDC @ .050
Intake Closes: 28 ABDC @ .050

Exhaust Opens: 30.5 BBDC @ .050
Exhaust Closes: 8 BTDC @ .050

Slight Update 06.05.08
Just hogged out the exhaust housing on my turbo to match the flange that I bought. That is all for today. Engine is still not in the car :? (maybe Sunday?).

On the intake side you see that the quench zone extends in between two intake valves, this is called a cloverleaf. Arguably this is a good thing. If you look at the exhaust side it is roughly flat leaving an open gap in between the two exhaust valves, this is called pentroof. These designs refer to the "quench" zone of the combustion chamber. These raise compression and force the flow of fuel into the center of the chamber. I must say, this is one thing we have on hondas. They come with this weird circular chamber that wont burn all the fuel. that is why so many honda owners weld the head into a pentroof or a cloverleaf. If we had a perfect cloverleaf and flat valves our compression would be like 10.3 or something of that nature. Just remember that when the piston rises it forces the fuel out of the quench zones and closer to the spark. So a head design that facilatates this act (especialy on a N/A) is a good thing.

After seeing those pistons, my compression has to be a lot higher than yours. Plus I have the head shaved .030".

Care to explain to me why you used a degree wheel when you have stock cam sprockets that are non-adjustable..... I didn't really read your thread, so maybe I missed something lol  Also IIRC you're supposed to use a solid lifter to measure valve lift with a dial indicator like that.

I know they wont be 100% accurate, but they will be close. We weren't trying to find out lift, we just wanted change when the valves open and close and change the cam's centerline so they would be closer to my dads cam that he had on his Turbo T-Type.

Note: Same post as in "What's Going On" section, just to keep this project organized.

:D!

After hours and hours of fabbing and what-not, the manifold is done! We welded it up last night at my dad's work. We didn't have the car there so it was basically all or nothing. When we got home, we test-fit it on the car and it really couldn't have worked out any better! I love the design, and yes I can still have the A/C. Most if not all of the credit goes to my dad for this. I just have to clean it out a little bit, but other than that it's ready to go. Now on to exhaust...lol.
