Update: 04/26/10

The car is now on the road again. It feels good to actually drive a car that has some power. I have done a lot over the winter, and there is plenty more to do. I thought that the transmission was bad, but it turns out that the syncros were fine. I replaced the little plastic guides on the end of the shift forks, but other than that, the transmission remains the same.

I made my own hood piston kid with the help of my dad. It uses two 40 (?) lb pistons. I really like the way that it turned out.

I also added KYB struts and H&R Sport springs to the car. The car is noticeably stiffer (better for the drag strip). I also added polyurethane LCA and sway bar bushings. I like the way it rides now. I still have that sleeper look.

I added the boost controller from DIYAutoTune to the car (I have yet to program it). I fixed my turbo drain as well. I also added another relay to control the Volvo slim-fan's slow speed circuit through the MS. I also upgraded the firmware, and I don't have the spikes that were there before. However, I still have a few things to work out with the tune.

Things to-do in the near future: Clean/Polish paint and switch valve cover and paint the "new" one the same color as the car.

Are those the Dorman shift cables from Advance Auto?

They are the Dorman shift cables, but I'm not sure if they are from Advance. I bought them from a member on here. Speaking of those, I forgot to mention that I have an issue with the up/down shift cable...it seems to be binding up. 2nd, 4th and reverse feel weird. I have figured out that it's a problem underneath the console where the shift cable sleeve is "bending". I will figure out a solution soon.

Car is looking good!

Thanks man!

That's why I asked. I had those same cables and it made driving impossible. When you would try and shift up or down, the cable would bend. DasPirate and I rigged it up with speaker wire rigged up around the cable and bolted the wire to the shifter so it would always be pulling on it and not allow the cable to bend. This at least got me home from PA. I took them back ASAP and got a refund, went to the junkyard and found some 94 cables that have a metal sleeve around the cable. It's worked perfect ever since.

I wont be around this weekend. I have class tomorrow and Wednesday is going to be crappy. When are you usually free during the week/weekend? I'll gladly meet up with you if I'm not busy. I have finals next Tuesday and then I am finally done with college!

Was it a gray truck? I vaguely remember seeing a truck when I was going over the railroad tracks.

Small update on the car: Dorman is willing to send another set of cables to me (their re-designed version).
