I was just going through my photobucket and I realized I could make an interesting picture progress thread and I haven't yet so here ya go.

If you wish to comment on this monstrosity, please do so here!  viewtopic.php?f=61&t=28623

Car was purchased for $6500 tax titled and ready to go on December 23rd of 2003.  Bone stock very clean 2000 SC1 with 31,960 miles.

DANGER!  WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE MAY SHOCK YOU!!!

The early days

The first thing I did was buy and install a radar detector...then I swapped over my WAI from my 1994 SC2 that I had totalled a month before.  I had a catback exhaust put on the car:  no muffler, glasspack, baffled 4" tip.

I was going to buy these 18"s from a friend.  Thank god I did not.

I bought white faced gauges and some neons and zomg racer mesh and shit and subs blah blah blah

The center console plexiglas and switch assembly is still in the car, that's about all that's survived this long...lol   I swapped over my stereo from my old car.

Here's a car I was test driving and really should have purchased....mmmmm

Modifying....something I guess

Starting to get a little more serious...chopped the shifter off, bought a sticker for the Saturn on the rear bumper, redded out the tails, LED domelight, LED HVAC...I think i pulled the 18" neons off the roof by this point.  gah.

I drove the car like that for a very long time.  Somewhere along the way I installed some better speakers, upgraded my stereo....stuff that doesn't work well with pictures I suppose.

I also blew my first tranny...probably from powershifting everywhere I went.  Drove it for a month or two with no tranny fluid in it, was wondering about the noises it made.  Haha.  Paid $1000 to have an MP2 from a 2002 SL installed, parts and labor.

Oh, and here's a photoshop I did back then of what I wanted my car to look like someday...

But in reality...

The Steelie Days

Dear god, someone kill me.

This is also the time period when I had police strobes in the headlights and flasher bars on the top part of the windshield, which was kinda cool, just not on a Saturn.

2005

Re-sprayed the tails using VHT this time over the top of my old red.  Still one of my favorite things I've done to the car.  Body shop clear.  Tinted clear corners.

Lowered the car...got some Sprint 2.0's for $75 shipped off a forum, bought some KYBs brand new and threw em on in my garage...I can't find pictures of the install though :(

Summer of 2006

Here comes the fun stuff!  I spent the summer in Naperville, IL, interning in Chicago.  I made a shitload of money, got my first credit card and promptly built up an impressive pile of parts.

Junkyarded myself an MP3 transmission (transmission #3) and a rear subframe.

Got the head and IM back from the machine shop.  Decked, honed, valve job, the works.

8k 9006 HIDs, replacing eBay ricerbulbs

Out with the steelies, in with the 17" Exel Ennios.  Removed front plate and ricermesh.

Summer continued

In one day, I borrowed JW's hoist and hung out with the SPC guys at a meet in Joliet, IL.

Some pretty epic cars were there...

Like Lane's 92 SC.

The final picture of my car as an SOHC

Finally time to pull out the SOHC...48k miles on it.  I drove home from the Saturn meet and pulled the engine in 2 hours and 55 minutes...including hoist assembly.

I thought I left something under the car...but really, it was just the ultimate weight reduction...lol

SDA cams installed in head, head installed on motor.

Now lots and lots of waiting for the timing chain kit to come from saturnparts.net...it showed up like 4 days before I had to leave, took a freakin month to get here...lol

Rear subframe/rear discs swap

VMS uber short Shaolin edition short throw installed

TSN stickers lol

Engine progress

Ready to drop in

Here's what happens when you're paranoid about losing parts and hang onto as many as you can...lol

Yep, it's stuck.

My help never showed up, I put it in all by myself.

New gauge cluster with new gauges

It's running!!!!

Bought a 93 SL2 for $200...was going to make it the cheapest turbo project ever, but then I ended up not getting Teb's POS manifold for free so I ran some seafoam through it and sold it for $800.

Some pictures with Jacob's SC1

Finished off the 3" CAI, 94a poly TAM, DOHC crankshaft pulley, Sprint's old NX nitrous kit installed :)

Photos missing - Nitrous install #2

Scotty vs. The Shaolin ROUND TWO! - October 2007

My friend pat's asploded NX100

(Nathan - 2, Scotty - 0, Pat - (-1)

Present Day - February 2008
79,000 miles.

2002 Projector headlights installed

Future plans:

Unsure.  I've always wanted to sell it but I know I'll never be able to do it.  For now on just driving it.  After I graduate and get some money I plan on installing a new head without a helicoiled plug and either swapping in a fancy engine or boosting this one.

ECOtec FTW!!!
"Consider this: 800 hp is a lot. On a 2.2L motor with 750hp--three-quarters of a thousand--you're basically dealing with
6.14 hp per cubic inch. Pressures and stresses of all kinds--thermal and mechanical loading across the board--escalate
to extreme levels. A Chevrolet 5.7-liter LS1 V8 with this much specific power (horseposer per cubic inch) would be making 2,137 hp."
